So I was surprised that I haven't been shut down. I warned you at the beginning that I'm not very good at keeping these things up to date but I am trying.
Vancouver was a great experience. I saw a few things that I hadn't seen before (Really, who picks up a pigeon off the street, kisses it, strokes it and talks to it and then carries it off with them?! The guy on Robson St that's who!) Stanley Park was really neat. I got some amazing photos that I have yet to post on Facebook or email to anyone. The course was really interesting and I was really busy the whole time I was there. The jetleg was a bit of a downer but it did get me a Friday off work.
We finished our living room finally! Boxes are unpacked, curtains are finished and hung and the rug and shelves are in place. My wonderful brother in law is coming over on the 26th to start the bathroom renovation and hopefully that will be finished by December 5th. Once that is done the main floor and the upstairs will be finished! I am so happy! The kitchen will eventually get done but we're looking at a complete remodel which means $$$ so that means saving for a bit to make that happen. Gordon wants to start the basement after Christmas. He's planning on knocking down a couple of walls to open the space up. The bathroom downstairs will hopefully get done just after upstairs is finished so that should already be done. Every time we finish a new task I fall more in love with our home. It's not just a house anymore.
This weekend is the Parade of Lights and we're going with Garnet and his family and then the boys are staying over for the night. They are too cute! We have so much fun with them...until they start to whine. That makes me wonder if being DINKS forever is a good idea....lol. Maybe...maybe not!

OMG it's almost the end of October. I have not been great about updating but I've been swamped and haven't been online much at all. This past week has been pretty incredible for a lot of big and small reasons.
My curtains are finally up, I had my first paid wedding cake (it turned out pretty fantastic if I do say so myself!) and now we're gearing up for a two wedding Saturday. RyLee and Clay are coming for a visit so tonight we have to get the house ready for company. I know Halloween is just around teh corner but I truly can not wait until Christmas!!!

So I nearly got scamed and I am very impressed that I was skeptical from the very start! Gordon and I put our lazy boy up for sale on craig's list last month and someone wanted it at full price. Great. Took forever to get the cheque and when I did it was for 4 times the amount of the chair. "Go ahead and cash it. I included my movers fees" Whatever. The cheque is destroyed and we still own the lazy boy. Oh well.
Going under the knife in 2 dyas to get my vision fixed. I'm nervous but it is a really common procedure now and I know a bunch of people that have had it done. I'm nervous but very excited that I will be able to see without putting things in my eyes or pushing my glasses up my nose! Should be an exciting day when I don't have to ask G for the time in the morning!

I'm not even sure anyone is checking or that it matters that I haven't rambled on in awhile. I've been really busy and tired and just haven't really bothered to string together the effort to update.
Our house is coming along. I think we're starting to lose a little steam...We're going to go to Kent tonight to get some of the supplies for our bathroom reno (they are having a sale). I really need to finish the curtains and hang some more pictures up. Gordon is going to do the touch up painting this weekend while we wait for our sofa to be delivered. Thank goodness that is finally coming. I had forgotten how much I preferred the IKEA sofa to the pull out. The comfy sofa is moving downstairs and so I am forced to further unpack to make room for the pull out in the little room downstairs.
Work is crazy. My boss is gone on a 3.5 week African safari and I am incredibly jealous. Although I'm not too sure that I would want to go to Africa. Europe is definitely more my speed. I guess its a good thing that I have 3 weeks to get reorganized and caught up. I have so much to do before I head to Vancouver for the Governance session! Ugh! It's a good thing that I like what I do....
I'm off to get my day started with a good jolt of caffeine....

Excuse me but where exactly did the summer go? I'm wearing pants today because it was so cold this morning (I refused to wear a jacket on principle!). I can't believe that the summer is gone....my favorite season. I am a definite sun lover, much to the shagrin of some of my friends (Sorry George) there is nothing that I love better than the warmth from the sun. It just brightens your home, your work space and my day in general.
The only good thing about September is that the countdown to Hallowe'en decorating is on...maybe I should have called this blog "Just call me Martha!"

So you are suppose to have empty nest syndrome until you are in your 50's and your kids have left to go do their own thing. This summer I have seen my family more than I have seen them in what feels like forever. In fact, my sister has been here all week for volleyball camp. It so nice having company around the house. I'm already getting that sad lonely feeling and she is still here for two more days... I think I never noticed in our apartment because Gordon and I were always on top of each other (figuratively speaking) and now we have all of this space. The projects are starting to wind down and I am finding myself thinking...what's next? What do I do now? I'm sure I will find something to occupy my time (I stoill need to make curtains for the living room). Oh my I'm sure this babbling is useless but there you have it. I am missing my family and anticipating missing my sister...

Well, we're getting close! G turned 2-9 today! Birthday celebrations tonight should be fun!

So it was suppose to rain all weekend...perfect for painting, right? Well it was hot and muggy and I swear I sweated off 4lbs! Regardless, the living room, dining room and upstaires hallway are now finished! Gordon did a great job replacing some drywall and painting the stucco ceiling and the rooms are now so cozy! It's awsome to see things finally getting put together. Our window treatment went up in our room last night (thanks mom!) and I'm going to start putting that room together after I finish Gordon's birthday cake....29 tomorrow!

Well Gordon is actually more like Al. Bless him he is working his heart out on our house. Tonight we cleaned up the wallpaper residue from the walls in the main living area (that's right...our house came gift wraped. So well I would have thought that Julie and Annette did it) and Gordon fixed up all of the trim. Tomorrow night its plaster and sanding and then Friday and Saturday paint. At least that is how I hope it works out. I really want to unpack!
West ward bound
I am beyond excited! Today I received approval to go to Vancouver in November for a PD session. Mind you I won't get to see much of the city because I will be in meetings all day and working in my hotel at night but I am excited none the less. My application form is in (well it will be tomorrow) so here's keeping the fingers crossed that everything works out!

What I wouldn't give to open my eyes in the morning and see the time on the alarm clock...yes my eyes are that bad. Poor G gets greeted with squinty eyes and "Honey, what time is it?" each and every day. Well I decided to go and see about getting that Lasik eye treatment done. I was told that I am a good candidate and that it should be a very simple procedure, in and out in less than 10 minutes....humm I would like to get paid that rate a minute! I almost fell out of the chair (bit hid it real well)! I am going to go and see at a few other places but at this moment I'm scheduled to have my eyes sliced open on September 29 and then I'll be off work for a few days. (Always a good idea to get these things done while the boss is on Africa!).
I wonder if Gordon will miss his usual morning greeting?
I wonder if Gordon will miss his usual morning greeting?
well I have finally done it...I know our lives probably isn't going to be interesting to alot of people but it's interesting to us so why not have a blog?
Gordon and I were married on July 10, 2004 and we just moved into our first house. Renovations are coming along nicely (no major problems) and most of our friends have growing families. This blog will be a place where we can post our adventures, triumphs and challenges.
Hope you'll visit us often!
