Empty Nest
Friday, August 31, 2007 •
So you are suppose to have empty nest syndrome until you are in your 50's and your kids have left to go do their own thing. This summer I have seen my family more than I have seen them in what feels like forever. In fact, my sister has been here all week for volleyball camp. It so nice having company around the house. I'm already getting that sad lonely feeling and she is still here for two more days... I think I never noticed in our apartment because Gordon and I were always on top of each other (figuratively speaking) and now we have all of this space. The projects are starting to wind down and I am finding myself thinking...what's next? What do I do now? I'm sure I will find something to occupy my time (I stoill need to make curtains for the living room). Oh my I'm sure this babbling is useless but there you have it. I am missing my family and anticipating missing my sister...

Well, we're getting close! G turned 2-9 today! Birthday celebrations tonight should be fun!

So it was suppose to rain all weekend...perfect for painting, right? Well it was hot and muggy and I swear I sweated off 4lbs! Regardless, the living room, dining room and upstaires hallway are now finished! Gordon did a great job replacing some drywall and painting the stucco ceiling and the rooms are now so cozy! It's awsome to see things finally getting put together. Our window treatment went up in our room last night (thanks mom!) and I'm going to start putting that room together after I finish Gordon's birthday cake....29 tomorrow!

Well Gordon is actually more like Al. Bless him he is working his heart out on our house. Tonight we cleaned up the wallpaper residue from the walls in the main living area (that's right...our house came gift wraped. So well I would have thought that Julie and Annette did it) and Gordon fixed up all of the trim. Tomorrow night its plaster and sanding and then Friday and Saturday paint. At least that is how I hope it works out. I really want to unpack!
West ward bound
I am beyond excited! Today I received approval to go to Vancouver in November for a PD session. Mind you I won't get to see much of the city because I will be in meetings all day and working in my hotel at night but I am excited none the less. My application form is in (well it will be tomorrow) so here's keeping the fingers crossed that everything works out!

What I wouldn't give to open my eyes in the morning and see the time on the alarm clock...yes my eyes are that bad. Poor G gets greeted with squinty eyes and "Honey, what time is it?" each and every day. Well I decided to go and see about getting that Lasik eye treatment done. I was told that I am a good candidate and that it should be a very simple procedure, in and out in less than 10 minutes....humm I would like to get paid that rate a minute! I almost fell out of the chair (bit hid it real well)! I am going to go and see at a few other places but at this moment I'm scheduled to have my eyes sliced open on September 29 and then I'll be off work for a few days. (Always a good idea to get these things done while the boss is on Africa!).
I wonder if Gordon will miss his usual morning greeting?
I wonder if Gordon will miss his usual morning greeting?
well I have finally done it...I know our lives probably isn't going to be interesting to alot of people but it's interesting to us so why not have a blog?
Gordon and I were married on July 10, 2004 and we just moved into our first house. Renovations are coming along nicely (no major problems) and most of our friends have growing families. This blog will be a place where we can post our adventures, triumphs and challenges.
Hope you'll visit us often!
